VIVA Sunrise

Recurring visitors to the Viva and just returned from an 11 night stay, maybe it’s not a great thing having a basis for comparison! Starting with the staff, as always, as with previous visits, the staff were excellent. In the restaurant and sports bar, Tony, Jonathan, Valverde, Maria, Jesus, Davide, Willy and Maria in the drink truck and others. In particular special shout outs to Tony and Davide, two of the nicest people you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting and it does the heart good chatting to people like them. Clean and spotless as always and air conditioning perfect. All inclusive, one thing that set the Viva apart for us was the all-inclusive, whilst it was still good this year, it’s definitely gone downhill in terms of taste. Not a great choice of snacks between meal times (if any at all?) and the choice of ice creams for the kids has been significantly reduced. The entertainment team, whilst all really nice and friendly don’t appear to be as involved as previous years, that could be down to my kids being at awkward ages. The pool is most definitely a downgrade on the old lagoon style pool. For starters it’s way too shallow, the smaller pool up the top end is also way too shallow so there’s literally no deep part. The bouncy inflatable whilst a hit with the kids, due to the small size of the pool it takes up way too much area. There are also these large white plastic things raised up from the floor of the pool which are easy to walk into, another guest referred to them as pool land mines which was funny. A lot of justifiable complaints about the lack of elderly/disabled access, whilst this didn’t affect us, I can see the point, the old pool had good access for elderly or disabled guests, the new one doesn’t have any. The selection club, very nice and worth the room upgrade, although it was confusing. We still had a great time, the kids had a great time and happy kids equals a happy holiday for us but the two big changes, the pool and the revamp of the restaurant are to add the sports bar are definitely for the worse and they need to keep an eye on the food quality.
